The article considers the issues of sustainable development as a strategic direction of society development in achieving continuous improvement of people's livelihoods and transition to a qualitatively new level of their life, in which the ecosystem is not destroyed and the natural basis is preserved. Assessment of sustainable development (SD) using cluster analysis and mathematical models allows for a deeper understanding of which regions or areas need support and which are already showing progress. For a full assessment of sustainable development (SD), along with cluster analysis, it is necessary to use factor analysis, discriminant analysis and analysis of relationships between indicators. The combined use of these methods provides a comprehensive assessment of sustainable development, taking into account the data structure, classification of objects, identification of the main determinants and analysis of relationships, which corresponds to high-level scientific and methodological approaches in the development and monitoring of sustainable development programs at the national and regional levels. Azerbaijan has made significant progress in implementing the sustainable development goals (SDGs), as evidenced by its high rating in global indices and constant improvement of indicators. Within the framework of the socio-economic development strategies for 2022-2026 and “Azerbaijan 2030”, the country is actively implementing measures aimed at long-term sustainability and improving the quality of life of the population.
