The article provides a detailed, multidimensional and systematic study of the tourism potential and development features of the tourism industry of the Chechen Republic as one of the key and strategically significant areas of socio-economic development of the region in modern conditions. The purpose of the study is a comprehensive analysis of the current state of the tourism industry, identification of the tourist and resource potential of the destination, as well as determining the role of tourism in shaping sustainable economic growth, diversifying the regional economy and improving the quality of life of the population. The paper consistently reveals the theoretical essence of tourism as a socio-economic phenomenon, examines the main approaches to the classification of tourist resources and the tourism industry, analyzes the structure of the tourist complex of the region, including natural and recreational, cultural and historical, ethnocultural, religious and event resources, as well as elements of tourist infrastructure and services. Special attention is paid to the characteristics of the unique natural landscapes, historical and cultural heritage, national traditions and customs of the Chechen Republic, which form the basis of the tourist attractiveness of the region and create prerequisites for the development of various types of tourism, including domestic, ecological, cultural, educational, ethnographic and ski tourism. The study analyzes current trends in the development of the tourism industry, assesses the state of the material and technical base, transport accessibility, staffing and investment activity in the tourism sector. It also identifies the main problems and constraints constraining the development of the tourism sector, such as insufficient infrastructure development, limited investment resources, the need to create a sustainable positive image of the region and improve the quality of tourist services. Based on the results of the analysis, promising directions for the development of the tourism industry in the Chechen Republic are substantiated, focused on the formation of a competitive tourist product, expansion of the tourist offer, increase in tourist flow and integration of the region into the all-Russian tourist space. The conclusions and results obtained can be used in the development of regional programs and strategies for the development of tourism, as well as in further scientific research on the problems of territorial development, regional economy and tourism management.
