Developing Soft Skills in Students as Part of Professional Training at University
Abstract and keywords
Abstract:
In a rapidly changing labor market and increasing demands on interpersonal and adaptive competencies, developing soft skills is becoming an integral part of students' professional training at university. This article explores the essence of soft skills as a set of universal competencies—communicative, cognitive, and behavioral—including critical thinking, emotional intelligence, teamwork, leadership, time management, and stress resilience. Effective pedagogical approaches to their development are analyzed: active and interactive learning methods, project-based activities, interdisciplinary courses, practice-oriented assignments, and reflective practices. Particular attention is paid to the need to integrate soft skills into the core content of educational programs, rather than teaching them in isolation. It is emphasized that the successful development of soft skills is only possible through the creation of a supportive educational environment focused on personal development, not just the transfer of professional knowledge.
