This paper examines the factors affecting employee motivation and retention in non-profit organizations (NPOs). Using a systematic literature review, empirical analysis (surveys and interviews with NPO representatives in Russia), and statistical data on employee turnover, the authors identified key drivers and barriers affecting employee attraction and retention. The results demonstrate that motivation in NPOs is a combination of extrinsic (financial and material incentives) and intrinsic (meaningfulness of work, development opportunities, corporate culture) factors. Employee retention is more sustainable when organizations invest in professional development programs, flexible schedules, and an environment conducive to personal development and social responsibility.
