The article examines the phenomenon of deurbanization and reverse labor migration of information technology specialists from megacities to rural areas. In the modern economy, a common form of migration behavior and employment of the population is labor migration from cities to remote areas, which can be considered a way of adapting the population to the prevailing socio-economic conditions. The relevance of the study is due to the radical transformation of the global and Russian labor markets under the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent development of digital technologies. The historically established "center-periphery" model, which assumed the concentration of highly qualified personnel in the largest agglomerations, is beginning to show signs of degradation. The author analyzes the factors contributing to the change in the migration vector, including the development of remote employment institutions, digitalization of rural areas, and changes in the value orientations of qualified personnel. The paper examines the socio-economic consequences of this process for rural development and the potential for the formation of "digital villages".
