The article provides a comprehensive analysis of the current state of food security in the Russian Federation against the background of socio-economic and institutional changes in the 2020s. The study is based on official statistics, the provisions of the Food Security Doctrine of the Russian Federation and the results of scientific work in 2022-2025. (1; 2; 3; 4; 7). Achieving and exceeding the threshold of self-sufficiency in basic types of food does not eliminate systemic risks: social unavailability of adequate nutrition, technological dependence of the agro-industrial complex, and the contradiction between the agro-industrial complex's export orientation and the internal needs of the population (2; 4; 6). The article substantiates the need to revise the methodology for assessing food security and shift the focus of public policy from formal indicators to the sustainability and social inclusiveness of the food system.
