Efficiency of multi-stage hydraulic fracturing in the development of low-permeability oil reservoirs using domestically produced equipment

Abstract:
Amidst the depletion of easily accessible hydrocarbon reserves and the impact of sanction restrictions, the Russian oil and gas industry faces the critical challenge of developing hard-to-recover reserves, where traditional development methods are of low efficiency. This paper is dedicated to a comprehensive assessment of the effectiveness of applying multi-stage hydraulic fracturing (MSHF) using domestically produced equipment as the primary method for production stimulation. The article examines the geological and physical characteristics of low-permeability formations, the theoretical foundations of MSHF technology, and provides an analysis of the technical specifications of Russian hydraulic fracturing complexes. Based on field data, it is proven that the use of domestic fracturing fleets increases well flow rates by a factor of 2.6–4.0, enhances oil recovery by up to 25%, and reduces operating costs by 10–15%, confirming the high economic and technological efficiency of import substitution in this strategically important sector.
