The article substantiates the strategic importance of the fruit and berry subcomplex in ensuring food security and reducing the import dependence of the Russian Federation. It presents an analysis of the development of horticulture in Russia, highlighting the leading production regions. Special attention is given to the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic as one of the leaders in the cultivation of fruits and berries. The article examines the main factors that have a positive and negative impact on the development of the fruit and berry subcomplex of the agro-industrial complex. The key aspects of the development of the fruit and berry potential of the republic have been identified, including the increase in the area and yield of perennial plantations, the production of high-quality planting material in certified nurseries, and the availability of labor resources. The weaknesses and threats have been identified, including high costs for planting, labor intensity, natural risks, and increased competition in the industry. Priority areas for the development of the fruit and berry subcomplex in the republics have been proposed.
