The article analyzes the problem of recidivism among persons serving sentences in the UFIC in the form of forced labor. Despite efforts to humanize criminal legislation and introduce alternative punishments, the rate of repeat offenses remains high, which indicates the lack of effectiveness of existing preventive measures and the rehabilitation of convicts. The potential of UFIC in the prevention of relapse is not fully realized due to insufficient individualization of the educational process. When working with convicts, traditional pedagogical tools are often used that do not take into account personal characteristics, life experience and the reasons for committing crimes. In this regard, the development and implementation of individual education programs, including comprehensive personality diagnostics, identification of psychological characteristics, life values and professional competencies, as well as the organization of purposeful educational and psychological-pedagogical work, is of particular importance. The introduction of individual education programs in the activities of the UFIC contributes to the realization of the potential of forced labor as an alternative to isolation from society and is a condition for improving the effectiveness of correctional institutions in preventing new crimes and returning citizens to a full life in society after release.
