The study examines the coping behaviour of Economic Crimes Department (OBEP) officers in stressful situations and its relationship with personal traits, including the level of logical memory development. It analyses types of coping strategies: problem oriented, emotion oriented and maladaptive. Under normal conditions, officers use adaptive strategies, while in extreme situations the proportion of pseudo adaptive and maladaptive methods increases significantly, which substantially reduces work efficiency and worsens psychological well being. A high level of memory is associated with the choice of problem oriented approaches, while a low level is linked to emotion oriented and manipulative ones. Moral values and motivation play a key role in regulating behaviour during crises. The findings emphasise the need for targeted psychological training and the development of personal resources to enhance officers’ stress resistance.
