This article discusses the features and main problems of the management system in small enterprises in the modern economic environment. The research is aimed at identifying the specific characteristics of small business management, analyzing the main barriers to development and identifying ways to improve management practices. The author analyzes the unique management environment typical for small enterprises, where formal methods are often replaced by informal ones, and resource constraints are a determining factor in the development of the enterprise. Special attention is paid to such challenges as strategic planning, human resource management, digital transformation and financial instability. The paper uses methods of comparative analysis, synthesis of theoretical concepts and empirical generalization. The results of the study show that small businesses are characterized by a special specificity of management processes due to limited resources, a high degree of personalization of management and the need for rapid adaptation to changes in the external environment. The main problems are the lack of qualified personnel, limited access to financial resources, weak strategic planning and high dependence on external factors. Based on the analysis, recommendations are proposed for improving management efficiency to ensure the sustainable development of small businesses in a modern competitive environment.
