Insurance is one of the most rapidly developing sectors of the global economy. It is a pillar of the financial sector and a crucial component of national competitiveness. Improving the efficiency of the information sector is therefore a priority for most countries. Reaching a high level of insurance market development can be achieved through various means, including increasing the information transparency of market participants. This article examines some of the most widely used methods for assessing transparency in the insurance sector. It analyzes methods used by major Russian and international rating agencies such as Expert RA, Moody’s, S&P, and Transparency International. The study concludes that while their methods have their advantages and disadvantages, there remains no universal approach to determining the information transparency of economic entities. Therefore, analysis of this issue remains relevant for future research.
