Development of a Model for the Economic Evaluation of Predictive Maintenance of Airfield Lighting and Aerodrome Electrical Equipment Considering Failure Critically and Downtime Cost
Abstract and keywords
Abstract:
The paper examines the economic assessment of predictive maintenance for airfield lighting and aerodrome electrical equipment. The relevance of the topic is determined by the fact that unscheduled failures, downtime, emergency repair actions, and delays in restoration directly affect the operational stability of an aerodrome, the level of costs, and the organization of maintenance. The study proposes an economic and operational model that links predictive indicators of technical condition with changes in failure frequency, maintenance labor intensity, downtime duration, and resulting cash flows, taking into account the criticality of individual infrastructure elements. A demonstration calculation was performed and showed that the implementation of a predictive approach can provide a positive net present value of the project under the specified conditions. The practical significance of the study lies in the possibility of using the proposed model for preliminary economic justification of digital monitoring, selection of a pilot implementation area, and comparison of maintenance options according to the expected effect.
