The present article considers an automated fuel transfer control system (AFTCS) and its integration with the automated flight control system of the Boeing 747-400 aircraft. The main purpose of considering this integration is to make sure that the introduction of AFTCS is a cost–effective solution for long-range flights, because the efficiency (cost-effectiveness) of flight operations is one of the three pillars of the organization of flight operations. Mathematical models of flight using AFTCS and without it have been developed based on the equations of spatial motion of a rigid body, taking into account changes in mass and center of gravity position. It is clearly shown that the use of the system allows achieving fuel savings of up to 2-3% by optimizing the aircraft center of gravity position in the range of 20-22% MAC by reducing the induced drag.
