Economic Justification for Selecting the Operating Mode of Airfield Lighting Equipment Under Temporary Reduction of Flight Intensity
Abstract and keywords
Abstract:
The problem of reducing operating costs for aerodrome lighting equipment under a temporary decrease in flight intensity and incomplete utilization of aerodrome infrastructure is considered. The relevance of the study is determined by the fact that, when the number of takeoff and landing operations decreases, maintaining the previous operating mode of all lighting system elements may lead to excessive costs for electricity, maintenance, and equipment service life. An economic model for selecting the operating mode of aerodrome lighting equipment is proposed. The model makes it possible to compare several options: standard operation, partial load reduction, and temporary limitation of the use of selected elements without violating aerodrome readiness requirements. The minimum permissible readiness level of the lighting system and the maximum recovery time of the full configuration before the airport resumes normal operation are specified as constraints. A scenario analysis is carried out for a conditional regional airport with one runway. It is shown that the rational operating mode should be determined not only by current cost savings, but also by the risk of delayed recovery of full equipment operability.
