A digital tutor for a student studying the course "Personal Growth and Social Interaction Technologies" at SFU
Abstract and keywords
Abstract:
This article examines the implementation of a digital tutor model-a chatbot-for automating interactions between teachers and students at a university. The relevance of the study stems from the growing demand for intelligent educational technologies, which peaked during the 2020 pandemic. Dialogue systems are considered one of the most promising tools. The article substantiates the feasibility of automating dialogue with university students using a digital tutor as an example and describes the experience of implementing it in the "Personal Growth and Social Interaction Technologies" course at Siberian Federal University. The methodological framework consisted of modeling the automation process within the framework of digital pedagogy and a student survey to assess their attitudes toward the new technology. The digital assistant was tested both synchronously during practical classes and asynchronously. The evolution of automated learning models from mass online courses has led society to intelligent assistants, but their high cost hinders their widespread adoption in Russian universities. The proposed model, based on the principles of adaptive education, aims to address this problem through a more flexible approach to individual development trajectories. This digital model can be recommended for use in universities. Its popularity will increase as traditional learning strategies become less relevant for the new generation of students.
