The article is devoted to the study of key areas of banking transformation in modern conditions. Based on the analysis of various approaches, the author suggests an object-oriented classification of the directions of banking transformation. Transformation of institutions, business models and channels of realization of banking products are highlighted among the directions. The analysis of these areas has been carried out and the risks caused by the accelerated pace of restructuring the banking business have been identified. The separation of regional banks into a separate group, the use of alternative financing instruments to maintain competition in the market and maintain links between the real and financial sectors of the economy are proposed as development directions.
